"As a company that enables connectivity, we understand the importance of our links to the environment, our people, and the places where we do business," said Tom Lynch, TE Connectivity Chief Executive Officer. "TERA is an important part of our strategy to deliver the best results to our employees, shareholders, customers, and communities. Now in its second year, we continue to see strong progress towards the goals of TERA."

The TE 2011 Corporate Responsibility Report includes the following highlights from fiscal year 2011:

  • TE continues to raise its expectations of its suppliers by auditing major suppliers against TE's stringent corporate responsibility guidelines.  Over 140 supplier audits were conducted in fiscal year 2011 -- significantly greater than the prior year.
  • The Company reduced greenhouse gas emissions by six percent.
  • Company donations increased by 54 percent from fiscal year 2010. TE, TE employees, and the TE Connectivity Foundation funded more than 1,400 organizations worldwide, including donations to disaster relief funds in Japan and New Zealand.
  • TE expanded its values-based anti-corruption policy and increased the number of ethics and compliance training sessions by 43 percent.
  • TE rolled out a global health and wellness campaign and expanded its Employee Assistance Program to cover all employees in every country in which it operates.
  • Injuries in manufacturing plants fell 13 percent, bringing the Company closer to its zero-injury work environment goal.

TE used the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) G3 Sustainability Reporting framework to help select and organize the content for the report and is self-declaring at a GRI Application Level B.  This year, TE invited an external panel made up of customers, suppliers, and corporate responsibility executives from other industries to review the report and provide their insights on key opportunities for improvement.  Feedback from this panel is included in the 2011 Corporate Responsibility Report.
