TE Connectivity Named to Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index

2016 Marks Sixth Consecutive Year on Index

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland, Sept. 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- TE Connectivity Ltd. (NYSE: TEL), a world leader in connectivity and sensors, today announced that it has been named to the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for the sixth consecutive year. Launched in 1999, the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices evaluate the sustainability performance of the largest 2,500 companies listed on the Dow Jones Global Total Stock Market Index. They are the longest-running global sustainability benchmarks worldwide and have become the key reference point in sustainability investing for investors and companies alike.

Companies are assessed and selected based on their long-term economic, social and environmental asset management plans. Selection criteria evolve each year and companies must continue to make improvements to their long-term sustainability plans in order to remain on the Index. Indices are updated yearly and companies are monitored throughout the year.

In fiscal year 2016, TE's sustainability efforts included multiple projects to contribute to efficient transportation technology, including the Hyperloop project and the first solar flight around the world. TE also worked to develop a more localized and sustainable supply chain, and 90 percent of production materials now come from local suppliers. While growing in production and sales, TE decreased its absolute greenhouse gas emissions by 21 percent, absolute energy use by 11 percent and absolute water usage by 30 percent since 2010. TE's donations to communities around the world exceeded $4 million and our employees volunteered over 21,000 hours to charitable causes.
