TE Connectivity Publishes 2013 Corporate Responsibility Report

SCHAFFHAUSEN, Switzerland, May 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- TE Connectivity (NYSE: TEL) released its 2013 corporate responsibility report today giving a comprehensive look at the company's progress in environmental impact reduction, social responsibility in the supply chain, community involvement, corporate governance and responsibility in the workplace. TE's 2013 corporate responsibility report highlights several key accomplishments including:

  • The company demonstrated continued environmental responsibility in its operations by reducing greenhouse gases by 17 percent; energy consumption by 12 percent; water usage by 16 percent; wastewater discharge by 15 percent; and hazardous waste by 42 percent.
  • As an example of its commitment to energy reduction, the company's manufacturing plant located in Kakegawa, Japan, was designed with 4,536 solar panels that generate electricity at a rate of 1,079 kilowatts/hour, equivalent to the electricity used in 256 average households in Japan.   
  • TE localized 87 percent of its nearly $4.6 billion global material spend, contributing to the regional economies in which the company has operations.  
  • The company and its Foundation made contributions of over $3.5 million to charitable causes around the world.
